How to Customize the Armor Mesh Valkyrie Runner

The Armor Mesh Valkyrie runner has two parts: the mesh runner and two anchoring strings. Swap those anchoring strings for colored women's lacrosse runners and the whole pocket changes character. This post walks through pulling the stock strings and lacing in your new color — no performance claims, just a sharper looking stick.

Step 1: Remove the Stock Anchoring Strings

The Valkyrie runner is made up of two components — the mesh runner itself and the two anchoring strings that secure it to the head. To start, you need to remove those anchoring strings.

You have two options here: untie them or cut them out. If you take the time to untie them carefully, you can set them aside and repurpose them for a future project. If you're not worried about saving them, cutting is faster. Either way, once the anchoring strings are out, the mesh runner will be loose and ready for the next step.

Step 2: Prep Your Colored Women's Lacrosse Runner

The colored women's lacrosse runners from Stringers Lacrosse Shop come pre-tied with a slip knot.

Before you can install them, you'll need to untie that slip knot — you're going to re-tie it directly around the Valkyrie mesh runner during installation.

Step 3: Anchor the Mesh Runner to the Head

Before adding the new colored anchoring strings, get the mesh runner positioned and secured at the top of the lacrosse head.

This gives you something stable to work with as you weave and tie the new strings in. Take your time here — a centered, evenly tensioned mesh runner makes the rest of the install much cleaner.

Step 4: Weave the Colored Runner Through the Mesh

With the mesh runner anchored at the top, start weaving the colored women's runner through the Valkyrie mesh.

Work your way down through the rows, keeping consistent tension as you go. This is the step that actually adds the color — take your time and keep it clean.

Step 5: Tie the Slip Knot

Once the runner is woven through, secure it by tying a slip knot around the top row of the Valkyrie mesh runner.

Pull it snug and make sure it's seated cleanly against the mesh before moving to the other side.

Step 6: Install the Other Side

For the second side, I reversed the order — I tied the slip knot first, then wove the runner through the mesh. It's slightly harder to execute that way, but totally doable.

You can also choose to install both colored anchoring strings before adding the top string altogether. Either sequence works, so go with whatever feels more natural to you.

Step 7: Finished

That's it. Black mesh, two colors of runner — the stick has a completely different look without touching the stringing itself.

One thing worth mentioning: I recently picked up a two-pack of the STX Women's Pocket Shaper for $14.99 and it made stringing the Valkyrie runner significantly easier. Highly recommend tracking one down if you're going to be doing this regularly. We hope to carry STX Lacrosse products at Stringers Lacrosse Shop one day, but the pocket shaper isn't available through us just yet.
