Important: don't drop the 10 lb or 15 lb plates alone on the barbell. Doing so can damage the inserts and voids the warranty.

Bumper or iron? Bumpers are safe to drop from overhead, so they're the right choice for cleans, snatches and deadlifts at home. In contrast, cast iron plates are thinner and cost less, but they aren't made to be dropped.
